Construction Superintendent

About This Role

Supervise all field construction activities for projects, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to quality specifications. This role coordinates with owners, architects, and engineers to manage daily operations, schedules, and subcontractor compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary liaison with owners, architects, and engineers for day-to-day construction activities.
• Develop and implement overall project work schedules, including identifying critical paths and expediting materials.
• Lead, supervise, and develop all Company field staff, providing input on performance appraisals.
• Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements at all times.
• Assist Project Manager and Project Engineer in securing all equipment guarantees, warranties, and service/maintenance agreements.
• Keep Project Manager and Project Engineer informed of field changes for general and subcontract change orders.
• Keep detailed daily records of subcontractors’ work progress for monthly billing reviews.
• Assist Site Safety and Health Officer in developing and managing site safety program and ensuring subcontractor compliance.
• Manage and make decisions related to scheduling, delivery, logistics, quality control, and trade employee staffing levels.
• Oversee work among all trades to promote a coordinated project operation and resolve local area problems.
• Manage labor relations with subcontractors and Healtheon staff.
• Implement inspections and associated testing, review, and approval.
• Ensure all necessary permits and insurance are in place and kept current.
• Manage project General Conditions and General Requirements to maintain budget.
• Coordinate with Project Manager on billing processes, monthly estimates, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications.
• Manage work to ensure compliance with and conformity to approved contract documents.
• Supervise all subcontractors on-site during projects.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and weekly progress meetings with client, architect, engineers, and project team.
• Minimize project delays through collaboration with the Project Manager.
• Maintain good relationships and open lines of communication with the client and project team.
• Provide accurate information documenting Daily Job Reports, Daily Safety Reports, 3-Week Look Ahead, and Incident/Accident Reports.
• Maintain fiscal responsibility for labor and other miscellaneous expenses, proactively seeking to streamline tasks.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years related training OR equivalent combination of education/training/experience
• 8+ years of building construction experience
• Thorough knowledge of general and subcontract documents, drawings, and specifications
• Understanding of construction means, methods, and materials
• Understanding of line and grade and survey methods
• Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite programs
• Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• OSHA 30 certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of four years’ related training, or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
• Minimum of eight years of building construction experience required.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of Primavera scheduling
• Knowledge of CMiC project management software
