About This Role

This role involves planning, implementing, and supervising project safety on construction job sites in accordance with Federal, State, and local Health and Safety regulations. The Safety Manager will ensure the health and safety of all employees and provide critical on-site safety oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Attend jobsite Pre task meetings and meet jobsite supervision independently to identify critical work activities requiring work plans and assist with the development of the work plans prior commencement of work activities
  • Oversee critical work plan activities to ensure approved work plan is followed
  • Contact General Contractors/owner's site safety personnel to ensure operations are to their satisfaction
  • Perform jobsite inspections, review safety related paperwork, and ensure the scope of the pre task plan matches the scope of the daily work and current operations to verify jobsite compliance
  • Ensure field operations are in compliance with Current OSHA regulations, Murray Company Policies and Owners or General Contractor's rules as specified by contract
  • Assist with training as needed for the projects specifically to ensure all employees on site have the required training needed
  • Train crew members in personal fall arrest/restraint systems, scissors lift operations, powered industrial truck operation, personal protective equipment, power tool safety, confined space entry, and any other safety training required by corporate policy
  • Assist with accident and incident, near miss investigation for the jobsites and develop safety alerts as a result thereof
  • Ensure appropriate management of work-related injuries and proper care for injured employees
  • Recommend corrective actions and/or disciplinary procedures for violations of HSE rules, procedures

Requirements

  • 5+ years of safety oversight experience on construction job sites
  • Basic computer proficiency (Outlook email, Word, Excel, Bluebeam)
  • Certified Health Safety Technician (CHST) certification

Qualifications

  • B.A. in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar discipline (preferred)
  • 5+ years of safety oversight experience on construction job sites

Nice to Have

  • 7+ years of safety oversight experience on construction job sites
  • Experience in safety oversight for plumbing/mechanical contractors
  • B.A. in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar discipline
  • Excellent responsiveness, communication and problem-solving skills
