Communication Systems Technician I

About This Role

The Communication Systems Technician I installs, programs, and maintains complex communication equipment, troubleshoots system failures, and designs system upgrades for mission-critical customers across various industries within the Chattanooga, TN area. This role supports enhancing workplace safety, security, and efficiency through advanced wireless communication, data, and security solutions.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, and maintain complex communication equipment
• Diagnose and repair system malfunctions to restore communication services
• Design and upgrade customer systems to incorporate the latest technologies
• Collaborate with team members, Service Manager, and customers
• Learn and be mentored on new communication technologies and equipment
• Complete assigned tickets accurately and on time
• Perform minor modifications to electronic circuitry and deploy software/firmware updates
• Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 technical support

Requirements

• Team-focused approach to customer needs
• Strong communication skills for end users and third parties
• Understanding of or willingness to learn two-way radio theory
• Experience operating testing equipment (spectrum analyzers, system analyzers, watt meters, TDRs, FDRs, multi-meters)
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Ability to pass a 7-year background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screen

Qualifications

• A two-year degree in Electronics, IT, or applicable subject, preferred
• At least two (2) years of experience in diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing mobile communications equipment.
