Clinical Nurse III: Adult ED

About This Role

The Clinical Nurse III assesses, coordinates, plans, directs, implements, and manages patient needs throughout their care, focusing on discharge and transitions. This role is responsible for the delivery and coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team, ensuring competent and compassionate care across various settings.

Responsibilities

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, perform treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
• Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.

Requirements

• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license
• Certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC
• 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department
• Ability to improve job performance through continuing education
• Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques

Qualifications

• Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
• 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department, preferably in a large academic, Level 1 Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
