Clinical Nurse II - ED Observation

About This Role

The Clinical Nurse provides compassionate and professional nursing care, implementing physician orders, administering medications, and evaluating patient needs and responses. This role involves collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care in the Emergency Department Short Stay Unit.

Responsibilities

• Implement physician orders, administer medications, start IVs, and perform treatments, procedures, and special tests.
• Document treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations.
• Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.
• Assess and evaluate patient needs for, and responses to, care rendered.
• Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions.
• Provide primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administer over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered.
• Collaborate with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients.
• Direct and guide ancillary personnel and maintain standards of professional nursing.

Requirements

• Graduate of a professional academic nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree is conferred
• Current NYS Registered Nurse license
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
• Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and time-management skills
• Knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques

Qualifications

• Diploma, Associate Degree or Baccalaureate Degree from a professional academic nursing program
• Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care
