Provide and coordinate independent care to patients within a multi-specialty clinical setting, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. This role contributes to advancing nursing practice and ensuring safe, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate independent care to patients within a clinical specialty
- Serve as a clinical resource for others and advance own practice
- Apply and integrate evidence into practice
- Function effectively in unit-specific roles (e.g., arrest team for ICU, triage for ED)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care, advocating for patient/family needs
- Model practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care
- Maintain required competencies and complete annual Continuing Education (CEs)
- Serve as a trained preceptor and coach new nurses and students
- Contribute to developing and evaluating unit-based orientation and education activities
- Understand and contribute to unit-based outcomes associated with National Hospital Quality Measures (NDNQI) and Nursing Sensitive Quality Indicators
- Accountable for compliance with regulatory requirements and holds others accountable
- Take action to correct observed risks to patient safety and report adverse events
- Implement policies, procedures, and guidelines consistently
- Function in the charge nurse role
- Participate in teambuilding efforts and contributes to briefings/staff meetings
Requirements
- More than 12 months nursing experience
- Solid knowledge and clinical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Basic computer skills
- Meets licensing requirements to practice registered nursing in the State of Maryland
- Current AHA BLS certification
- Meet all unit-specific certification requirements: PALS, ACLS, NRP
Qualifications
- More than 12 months nursing experience
