Provide vital, life-saving diagnostics to American Indian communities as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist. This role involves performing and evaluating complex laboratory tests, ensuring quality assurance, and contributing to laboratory operations and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Perform and evaluate complex laboratory tests, including chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, and molecular diagnostics, using manual and automated techniques.
- Establish, monitor, and document quality control systems to ensure accuracy, precision, and reliability of test results.
- Formulate and validate new testing methods, calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments, and prepare required reagents and media.
- Offer guidance, education, and technical assistance to laboratory personnel.
- Assist supervisors with competency assessments and proficiency testing.
- Oversee supply inventory, troubleshoot equipment issues, and contribute to health, safety, and accreditation policies.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
- Successful completion of a federal background investigation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, AND successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program; OR, a 4-year course of study including 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program; or, a Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree including 16 semester hours of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester of mathematics, AND five years of full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience.
- 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level, OR 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
