About This Role

Drive commercial vehicles to deliver building materials to job sites and customers, playing an integral role in building and improving the world. Maintain vehicle safety, record transactions, and ensure high-quality product delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspection of vehicle and report maintenance or repair issues
  • Ingress and egress truck by navigating 2 steps with grab bars present
  • Manipulate truck steering wheel, shifter, and other levers for operation of truck and associated equipment
  • Monitor various gauges, investigate abnormalities, and perform operator maintenance and minor field repairs
  • Operate truck to deliver to construction sites safely and efficiently, obeying laws and following dispatch instructions
  • Maintain communication with Dispatcher regarding deliveries and check delivery tickets for special instructions
  • Ensure proper materials are loaded safely and obtain proper signatures as required
  • Ensure quality of product delivered
  • Collect money from customers and record transactions on customer receipt
  • Inform customers of new products or services, and communicate or resolve service complaints
  • Respond to customer questions related to basic product knowledge and concrete construction techniques
  • Record sales and delivery information by handwriting and/or use of tablet computer
  • Maintain operator logs, forms, and records in accordance with company policy and DOT regulations
  • Complete written report of problems or necessary repairs and forward to maintenance personnel
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision
  • Maintain work area and vehicle in a clean and orderly condition
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations
  • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL unrestricted and current DOT medical card
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills
  • Safety minded professional with good performance, attendance, and punctuality
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed
  • Ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Truck Drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators and other employees
  • Ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations
  • Must be a current member or able to join Local Operators #400 within 30 days of hire
  • Pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing
  • Current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date

Qualifications

  • Commercial driving or equipment operating experience preferred; training provided for those with limited experience.

  • Commercial driving or equipment operating experience, especially in a commercial or construction setting
  • Basic Mechanical skills
