Charge Nurse (RN) Med/Surg

About This Role

This role involves performing initial and ongoing assessments of patients, establishing care plans, supervising and mentoring nursing and support staff, and providing direct patient care as needed at a regional medical center.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition
• Establish a plan of care appropriate to identified problems, involving the patient as capable and desired
• Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shift
• Assist in determining staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, abilities, census, patient acuity, and work/patient flow
• Provide direct patient care as needed
• Float between staff to assist with problem-solving
• Take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
• Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting desired patient outcomes
• Respond to complaints about patient care and related services, managing through established channels
• Perform role-specific duties including entering orders, admissions, discharges, and transfer coordination
• Ensure staff has necessary equipment and supplies for safe, quality patient care

Requirements

• Current Tennessee Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support certification
