About This Role

The Certified Medication Aide will administer medications, monitor residents for adverse effects, and maintain accurate documentation. This role supports resident care with precision and compassion while ensuring safety and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Properly administer prescribed PO, topical (unbroken skin), and rectal medications according to physician’s orders and company policies.
  • Observe for adverse effects of administered medications and report them immediately to the Charge Nurse.
  • Record all medication administration according to company policies.
  • Maintain the security of the medication cart and ensure a safe, hazard-free environment.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of resident information.
  • Adhere to infection control protocols during medication administration.
  • Notify the Charge Nurse of complaints, reactions, or any changes in resident status.
  • Report any medication errors immediately to the Charge Nurse.

Requirements

  • Current Medication Administration certification from the state
  • Competence in medication administration and technical procedures
  • Strong communication skills with excellent self-discipline and patience
  • Detail-oriented and capable of accurately recording information
  • Trustworthiness and consistency in attendance
  • Ability to effectively multitask in a dynamic environment
  • Professional and cooperative demeanor
