Certified Athletic Trainer

About This Role

Provide comprehensive athletic training services for high school student-athletes, working under the direction of a licensed physician. This role focuses on injury prevention, recognition, evaluation, immediate care, and rehabilitation, ensuring appropriate care and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Prevent athletic injuries through appropriate measures
• Recognize, evaluate, and provide immediate care for athletic injuries
• Rehabilitate and recondition athletic injuries
• Administer healthcare services and manage professional development
• Perform assessments of patient's injuries and gather medical history
• Fit patients with crutches and/or braces
• Coordinate patient services including self-care and developing home programs
• Refer injuries for evaluation, management, or treatment as appropriate
• Document care using an Electronic Medical Record program
• Provide education to parents, patients, and the community regarding injury prevention and management
• Track outcomes and report information to network manager
• Provide medical coverage at events scheduled through high school

Requirements

• Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) approved program
• Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
• BCLS certification
• AED certification
• Licensed Athletic Trainer in good standing for the State of Michigan

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training
• 3+ years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer is preferred

Nice to Have

• Master's Degree
• 3+ years’ experience as a certified athletic trainer
• Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records and/or computer skills
• Knowledge of common orthopedic conditions/surgeries
• Ability to work with minor patients, parents, families, physicians, co-workers, and athletic directors
• Excellent communication skills- written and oral
