Cafe Food Server

About This Role

Serve guests at the Decatur Cafe, taking food and beverage orders, delivering items efficiently, and maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome
• Take food and beverage orders while utilizing suggestive selling techniques
• Serve all food and beverage items to guests in accordance with department standards
• Set tables in accordance with the established chart/diagram
• Bus, clean, and sanitize all table tops and seating areas in a timely manner
• Maintain knowledge of table, seat and station numbers, room capacity, operational hours and table set up
• Maintain knowledge of menu items including unavailable items, prices, preparation method/time, main ingredients, serving temperature, portion size, garnish and proper presentation methods
• Efficiently use point-of-sale system and manual entry procedures to accurately charge guests
• Complete side-work duties including restocking supplies and setting up condiments
• Sweep and clean main dining room and server pickup area in kitchen as needed
• Extend appreciation for the guest’s patronage and invite them to return
• Complete all closing reports as assigned
• Provide outstanding customer service to guests and fellow employees

Requirements

• Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and verbal
• At least 21 years of age

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Nice to Have

• Previous serving experience
• Previous experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Prior experience exercising sound judgment when dealing with difficult guest situations
• Previous experience with point-of-sale systems, computers and calculators
• Previous experience working with InfoGenesis
