C Lineman - Transmission

About This Role

This entry-level Class C Lineman Transmission position is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems, focusing on safety and the effective use of tools and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized transmission systems
• String overhead wire and set poles and anchors
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order
• Learn and understand transmission voltages, induced voltage, and sag wire techniques
• Assist with assembly and erection of towers and framing basic line structures
• Install all types of compression connections
• Properly install and remove PPE and cover up, and inspect rubber goods, covers, and PPE
• Climb various structures (wood, steel, etc.) and understand grounding procedures, flag and tag procedures, and minimum approach distance
• Perform basic bucket rescue/escape
• Work outside, frequently in inclement weather, and perform rigorous physical labor

Requirements

• 1-year minimum of field experience
• Able to read and communicate effectively in English
• Able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days of employment
• Able to travel long distances on short notice
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs
• Able to properly inspect rubber goods and PPE
• Willing to work over-time when requested
• Willingness to glove/work live high voltage transmission lines
• Willing to work outside of the normal work schedule including weekends, holidays, and overtime
