Buyer

About This Role

This role is responsible for the creation, delivery, and upkeep of supply plans, purchase orders, inventory levels, and other material flow systems to support the facility. The Buyer will also create and maintain VMI, Kanban, and stocking systems for key materials and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Initiate and process purchase orders in a timely manner
• Continually track and follow-up on expected delivery dates of materials
• Communicate potential disruptions to material flow to planning and production
• Audit inventory levels and accuracy under the direction of the supply chain manager
• Ensure cost-effective material purchasing
• Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers under the direction of the supply chain manager
• Search and recommend new suppliers as needed
• Conduct supplier audits for inventory levels and quality
• Respond to and resolve supplier quality issues in a timely manner
• Assist in the creation of work orders and production packets
• Maintain a strong relationship with production floor personnel and leadership
• Lead efforts to respond to any material related issues
• Audit and maintain proper inventory levels of a Kanban system
• Assist with incoming inspection
• Upkeep supplier scorecards
• Assist in responding to internal customer requests regarding WIP status
• Effectively use metrics and visual management systems to define, measure, and improve delivery
• Lead or participate in improvement events

Requirements

• Fluent in English
• 4-year degree or equivalent experience

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience

Nice to Have

• Good understanding of 5S, waste elimination, and other lean principles
• Adept with ERP systems
• Problem-solving root cause analysis and corrective action skills
• In-depth knowledge of product lines, processes, and machine and operator capabilities
