Manage a laboratory's operations and financial performance, ensuring high quality, compliance, and strategic growth. Provide leadership to personnel and maintain positive client and industry relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead, schedule, and train employees, fostering morale and teamwork
- Ensure adherence to highest quality and efficiency standards in laboratory operations
- Manage the technical conduct, quality control, and related record keeping of all analytical evaluations
- Provide planning, organization, direction, and control to meet company goals
- Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental programs and maintain documentation
- Establish and maintain professional business relationships with clients, industry officials, and peers
- Assist in marketing strategies, prepare technical work proposals, and maintain an influential position in business expansion plans
- Oversee daily operations including laboratory, quality, logistics, and managerial duties
- Control laboratory expenses within established company guidelines and analyze monthly indicators
- Perform annual performance reviews and handle employee relations issues with HR support
Requirements
- Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field (or equivalent)
- 10+ years of supervisory experience
- 10+ years professional experience in laboratory operations
- 5+ years of profit/loss accountability or large/multi-department/team leadership (>$5M Net Sales)
- Familiarity with laboratory operations and services
- Familiarity with EPA, DOT, OSHA, and DOL regulations
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong customer relations skills
- Ability to manage a business at a profit/loss responsibility level
- Ability to control operating budgets
- Ability to develop and enforce policies and operating practices
- Ability to prioritize and delegate responsibilities
- Ability to successfully handle contract and other negotiations
- Strong decision-making abilities
- Problem-solving abilities
- Professional working proficiency in English
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or other related degree concentration, or equivalent directly-related experience. MS
- At least 10 years of supervisory experience and 10 years professional experience in laboratory operations with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory operations or large/multi-department/team leadership with profit/loss accountability ($5M+ Net Sales or equivalent).
