The Business Analyst (BA) serves on an Agile Scrum team, focusing on understanding user business processes and workflows through effective communication and collaboration. This role involves analyzing business requests, optimizing systems, and delivering expert pension service to Illinois public educators.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Business Analyst (BA) on a cross-functional Agile Scrum team, participating in all Scrum ceremonies
- Communicate and collaborate with users to understand business processes, workflows, and product vision
- Coordinate and facilitate business strategy and process improvement meetings, documenting key takeaways and specifications
- Create user stories based on stakeholder requirements to align product design and development
- Analyze business requests, determine feasibility, research areas for improvement, and identify optimal solutions
- Improve existing systems and processes while minimizing complexity, leveraging IT resources and automation opportunities
- Serve as a liaison between business users and Quality Engineering staff for test considerations and scenarios
- Coordinate with operational teams on testing strategies, planning, and tracking aligned with requirements
- Review manual and automated test plans, provide guidance on test scenarios, and assist with testing as needed
- Provide production support by monitoring ticketing systems, triaging incoming tickets, and documenting resolutions
Requirements
- 3+ years of relevant experience with pension administration or information technology
- 2+ years assisting with an IT project or implementation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills catering messages to both business and technical audiences
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and planning skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Communications or related field or relative years of experience in lieu of a degree
- 3+ years of relevant experience with pension administration or information technology, including 2+ years assisting with an IT project or implementation
Nice to Have
- Product Owner certification
- Scrum Master certification
- Knowledge and experience in Agile & Scrum methodologies
