Bus Operator

About This Role

Transport customers safely and efficiently by operating revenue vehicles on scheduled and special routes, while acting as a Customer Service Ambassador for the Municipality of Anchorage's People Mover system.

Responsibilities

• Function as a Customer Service Ambassador for the Municipality of Anchorage and the People Mover system
• Provide safe, efficient, and quality transportation service to customers
• Transport customers by operating any type of revenue vehicle during regularly scheduled routes and special service routes
• Observe safety rules and regulations, State and Municipal laws, and route time schedules
• Respond to inquiries and assist customers with various information and help
• Operate fare collection equipment, mobile display computers, and head signs
• Ensure automatic stop announcement system is working or announce major stops and transfer points
• Assist persons with mobility devices as required and secure mobility devices in accordance with policy
• Administer People Mover policy and procedure in special circumstances (e.g., service interruption and emergencies)

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• 1 year of experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator
• Valid State of Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B (or greater) with an Unrestricted Passenger Endorsement, No Air Brake Restriction, and satisfactory driving record at time of hire
• Ability to operate and utilize all standard safety equipment installed in transit passenger vehicles, including safety harnesses and restraints

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• At least one (1) year of experience as a licensed motor vehicle operator.
