Bus Driver

About This Role

This role will provide safe transportation for children aged 3-5 in the Head Start program, driving a minibus and assisting in various program areas. The position requires a welcoming personality and adherence to transportation regulations to ensure child safety.

Responsibilities

• Complete necessary documentation and record keeping
• Follow transportation regulations concerning the health and safety of children
• Assist in the preparation of bus routes and adhere to fixed routes
• Provide transportation for educational, medical, and other field trips
• Receive and make phone calls to parents as needed
• Monitor the safe operation and cleanliness of the bus
• Communicate positively and effectively with children and families
• Ensure no unauthorized individuals enter the bus
• Enforce conduct and safety rules on the bus
• Be available to work early morning, later evening hours, and occasional Fridays and weekends

Requirements

• Bus endorsement (or obtained within 6 weeks of hire)
• High school degree or GED/HSED
• 12-18 months of previous related work experience
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including varying duties and locations
• Possess or obtain CDL with bus endorsement within 90 days of employment
• Ability to pass driving criteria per Agency insurance carried and DOT regulations
• Valid driver's license
• CPR certified or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass physical/TB/drug screen and comprehensive background check

Qualifications

• High school degree or GED/HSED
• 12-18 months of previous related work experience
