Billing Specialist

About This Role

Process eligibility, submit and monitor claims, post payments, and follow-up on aging accounts as a Medical Billing Specialist. This role ensures accurate billing and collection processes according to payer requirements and company policy.

Responsibilities

• Process eligibility workflow and submit requests for authorizations
• Submit claims for processing, both electronically and via paper
• Monitor claim rejections and respond to payer inquiries regarding invoices
• Post insurance payments and follow-up on aging outstanding accounts
• Prepare accurate claims for submittal to payer sources
• Work claims until payment or write-off occurs
• Perform special projects as directed by the Director of Finance
• Analyze and recommend actions for delinquent accounts
• Perform collection activities according to policy
• Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of related responsibilities

Requirements

• Previous billing experience using both UB04 and 1500 forms
• Previous insurance verification experience
• Strong work ethic
• Detail oriented
• Able to multi-task
• Dependable team player
• Able to communicate effectively with others
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Proficient in English (speak, read, write)

Qualifications

• Associate Degree preferred
• 5 years billing experience in an appropriate clinical care setting or home health environment preferred. Previous billing experience using both UB04 and 1500 forms along with previous insurance verification experience required.
