Behavioral Health RN - PRN Weekends

About This Role

Provide direct and indirect patient care for behavioral health patients by developing and implementing nursing care plans, administring medications, and ensuring effective communication with the healthcare team and patients' families.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the standard of nursing care and implement hospital policies and procedures
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care provided to patients
• Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs, potential for harm, complexity, and staff's scope of practice
• Document patient admission assessment, reassessments, care plans, and pertinent information
• Perform assessments on all patients on admission and make referrals to other disciplines
• Develop and update nursing care plans in coordination with patient, family, and team members
• Administer medication utilizing the five rights of medication administration
• Assess and reassess pain, utilizing appropriate pain management techniques and educating patients/families
• Formulate teaching plans based on identified learning needs and evaluate effectiveness
• Assist physicians with examinations, treatments, and special procedures
• Initiate or assist with emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients’ condition
• Communicate appropriately and clearly to management, co-workers, and physicians

Requirements

• Current state licensure as Registered Nurse
• BCLS certification
• Minimum one year in an inpatient psychiatric setting
• Crisis prevention training and certification (mandatory completion within 90 days of hire)

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or Nursing Diploma program.
• Minimum one year in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
