About This Role

The Banquet Captain at River City Casino & Hotel ensures exceptional guest service, coordinates banquet operations, and supervises staff to deliver seamless event experiences. This role involves overseeing room setup, managing food and beverage service, and handling administrative tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all departmental and property policies and procedures regarding guest service standards.
  • Obtain and review Banquet Event Order(s) for food and beverage menu items being served for each event; work with kitchen staff to ensure proper food preparation and timing.
  • Ensure that team members are knowledgeable regarding policies, procedures, and banquet food and beverage menu items.
  • Ensure that the banquet room, including tables, chairs, carpeting, tray jacks, and side stations are clean, fully equipped, and neat; coordinate room set-up with stewards and oversee placement of buffets, risers, head tables, etc.
  • Ensure that the banquet service team has completed all assigned pre-service responsibilities.
  • Greet event contact, by name, and offer assistance with any guest or special setup needs.
  • Use seat designation system when event requires more than one entrée selection; ensure that servers use accurate seat designation numbers to serve correct entrée to each guest.
  • Supervise and train Banquet staff and events, in the absence of the Banquet Manager and Banquet Coordinator.
  • Prepare and submit banquet checks and bills in an accurate and timely manner; process cash and paperwork per established protocols.
  • Assist with various administrative tasks including scheduling and tracking attendance, as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or two (2) years of Banquet service experience
  • Previous Food and Beverage experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English grammar and proper word usage
  • Ability to anticipate problems and use sound judgment and tact in handling guests confidential matters
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to maintain a high level of energy and take a proactive and strategic approach to dealing with issues
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; or two (2) years of Banquet service experience.
  • Previous Food and Beverage experience required. Two (2) years of Banquet service experience may substitute for a High School Diploma.
