About This Role

This Auto Body Technician role is responsible for meticulously assessing and repairing customer vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition, ensuring speed, quality, and customer excellence by thoroughly disassembling, repairing, and reassembling each vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
  • Plan necessary repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers
  • Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections
  • Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible
  • Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage
  • Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts
  • Replace or repair glass, windshields, and interior parts as needed
  • Weld and attach or fit parts into place
  • Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent
  • Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correctness

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
  • Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision
  • Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
  • Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
  • Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
  • Ability to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times
  • Ability to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions
  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
  • 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer or completion of technical school program
