This Auto Body Technician role is responsible for meticulously assessing and repairing customer vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition, ensuring speed, quality, and customer excellence by thoroughly disassembling, repairing, and reassembling each vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
- Plan necessary repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers
- Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage; mix and apply filler resins when other methods are not feasible
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage
- Remove damaged sections and replace with new or aftermarket parts
- Replace or repair glass, windshields, and interior parts as needed
- Weld and attach or fit parts into place
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or agreed-upon equivalent
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines and inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correctness
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
- Ability to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Ability to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
- 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer or completion of technical school program
