Associate Engineering Manager / Engineering Manager – Infrastructure Platform

About This Role

Lead and scale the Compute Platform team, focusing on inventory, platform tooling, and lifecycle management for bare-metal, virtual machines, and Kubernetes infrastructure at Agoda.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to system design and code, perform reviews, and provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers
• Build, lead, and develop a cross-functional team of software and systems engineers, supported by contractors and interns
• Drive the research, design, and delivery of inventory and compute platform tooling
• Own and support design reviews within the team and across the wider engineering organization
• Own the roadmap, and be accountable for delivery, reliability, and operational outcomes
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, engineering quality, and continuous improvement
• Continuously learn and explore emerging technologies, sharing knowledge and raising the technical bar

Requirements

• 3+ years experience as an Engineering Manager
• Strong hands-on coding experience in a modern programming language (Golang preferred)
• Experience building or supporting platform tooling for large-scale compute or infrastructure environments (Kubernetes, OpenStack, virtual machines, containers)
• Proven experience with platform stability, resilience, and observability
• Strong focus on testing, quality, and delivery, with experience in modern CI/CD environments
• Data-driven, scientific approach to decision-making
• Comfort operating with high autonomy at the team level (setting OKRs/KPIs, prioritizing work, clear ownership)
• Experience leading Agile/Scrum teams with multiple direct reports
• Demonstrated experience using Generative AI tools in day-to-day engineering and management workflows
• Self-motivated, approachable, and adaptable, with strong communication skills in English

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, leading, coaching, and developing engineers with a mix of seniority and experience levels.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing or building asset and inventory management systems at scale
• Hands-on experience with configuration management and automation tools (Ansible and/or AWX)
• Solid understanding of networking fundamentals and protocols in large-scale infrastructure environments
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively across teams and levels
• Experience using, maintaining, or contributing to open-source projects
• Experience integrating GenAI capabilities into platforms
