This role is for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Pathology to develop and deliver curriculum, engage in scholarly activities, and advise students within the Department of Clinical Anatomy at Sam Houston State University.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and delivery of Pathology curriculum in foundational and systems-based courses
- Collaborate with faculty in other departments to provide a highly integrated curriculum
- Provide instruction using various methods of content delivery, including large and small group discussions, case reports, grand rounds, and other interactive approaches
- Participate in the writing of exam questions based on COMLEX-USA and USMLE styles
- Maintain scholarly activities, such as applying for research grants, dissemination of research findings in peer-reviewed journals, and conference attendance
- Act as a faculty advisor and participate in selection of students
- Perform other duties as assigned by the chair of the department
Requirements
- DO or MD degree with residency training in Pathology
- At least 1-year teaching experience in an academic institution at the graduate or professional level
- Good interpersonal skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work cooperatively and congenially with various faculty
- Leadership skills
- Vision for enhancing academic components of a multi-disciplinary department
- Plan for scholarly activity, including publications and presentations commensurate with the rank
Qualifications
- DO or MD, with residency training in Pathology
- At least 1-year teaching experience in an academic institution at the graduate or professional level, with preferred teaching experience to medical students.
Nice to Have
- Teaching experience to medical students
- Experience using different teaching methods, including case-based learning, flipped classroom, interactive large group presentation, audience response systems, and curriculum delivery systems (Blackboard)
- Experience with curricular and instructional design
