Assistant Superintendent

About This Role

Coordinate field operations for specific areas and/or self-performed and subcontracted trades on construction projects, ensuring work meets specifications, schedule, and safety/quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate installation of work in accordance with contract documents, project schedule, and planned sequence of work
• Have thorough knowledge of contract documents and the scope of work for assigned areas or trades
• Develop an understanding of the duration of each activity and apply knowledge of equipment capability for optimum utilization
• Know scheduled delivery dates for all material and equipment affecting assigned areas/trades
• Supervise field workforce to ensure cost-effective work, knowing budgets and developing remedies for cost deviations
• Implement the safety program, conduct regular inspections, and take remedial action when required
• Establish a procedure for hazard recognition at the beginning of every new activity
• Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline
• 3+ years of construction management experience in a field supervisory role
• Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors and suppliers
• Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower
• Well versed in safety and government regulations (e.g., OSHA)

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline
• 3+ years of construction management experience in a field supervisory role

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of construction management software platforms and tools including Procore, PlanGrid, FieldWire, Bluebeam, and P6
