Assistant Superintendent

About This Role

The Assistant Superintendent coordinates field operations for specific areas and/or self-performed and subcontracted trades on construction projects, ensuring work is completed according to schedule and implementing pertinent safety and quality control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate installation of work in accordance with contract documents, project schedule, and planned sequence of work.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of Contract Documents and scope of work for assigned area(s) or trade(s).
• Apply knowledge of equipment capability and develop plans for optimum utilization.
• Supervise field work force to assure cost effective installation, managing budgets and developing remedies for cost deviations.
• Implement the safety program, conducting inspections and ensuring compliance with company and government standards (e.g., OSHA).
• Maintain good working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
• Proactively identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate and win new work.
• Recruit top industry talent to join the Clark team.
• Exceed stakeholder expectations by anticipating needs, desires, and goals.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience working on construction projects in a field role
• Heavy civil construction experience
• Demonstrated ability to direct the work of others including subcontractors and suppliers
• Working knowledge of the construction process including scheduling, contract administration, equipment, manpower
• Well versed in safety and government regulations (e.g., OSHA)

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or a related discipline preferred but not required
• 3 to 6+ years of experience working on construction projects in a field role. Heavy civil construction experience required with an emphasis on self-perform work and concrete construction highly preferred.
