The Assistant Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services while being mentored by an Elite or Master Stylist to prepare for a stylist position. This role focuses on developing technical skills, providing quality professional services, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences.
Responsibilities
- Engage with guests, consult on their hair care needs, and recommend products and services
- Support mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity goals for hair services and products
- Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing after month three
- Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance guest service
- Support the execution of in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives
- Stay informed regarding new and existing industry trends, products, and services
- Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail and service recommendations
- Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner under mentorship
- Develop a partnership with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a total-store guest experience
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures
- Maintain outstanding store operational standards, including cleanliness of the salon and salesfloor
Requirements
- Cosmetology license
- Passion for the beauty industry
- Exceptional guest service skills
- Aptitude and willingness to learn additional technical skills and product knowledge
- Basic understanding of the latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing services
- Basic understanding of the use of equipment and chemicals needed for technical work
- Basic understanding to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products
- Developed communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele
