Assistant Preconstruction Analyst

About This Role

This role supports the effective management of corporate pre-construction work by organizing cost data, assisting with database maintenance and data model creation, and analyzing existing datasets to identify patterns and trends that influence decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Collect and compile data from various sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness
• Perform data cleaning and transformations as necessary to prepare data for capture and analysis
• Perform project-specific research to supplement provided data from Preconstruction with Construction phase data sources
• Evaluate and document existing business processes in flow chart form
• Assist in conducting data analysis using statistical methods, data visualization tools, and data analysis software
• Summarize findings in clear and concise reports
• Create visually appealing and informative charts, graphs, and dashboards to present data insights for users, focus groups, and leadership
• Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports to communicate key metrics and findings to Preconstruction teams and leadership
• Maintain data quality standards by identifying and resolving data discrepancies
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members to establish data quality protocols

Requirements

• Proficiency with plan reading and common construction materials and methods
• Proficiency with primary Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
• Expert efficiency in MS Excel

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Associate degree in construction management, engineering, computer science, finance, statistics, or a related field
• 1-3 years of experience in a data analyst role working with high volume data and financial information OR 1-3 years of experience in construction-related field with focus on plan reading, quantity survey, and proven ability to quickly extract and process data

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with advanced Microsoft applications (Visio, Project, Access)
• Familiarity with construction industry-specific technology solutions for quantity survey (BlueBeam Revu), bid solicitation (Procore, BuildingConnected, iSqFt/ConstructConnect), estimating (WinEst, Sage, ProEst, Destini Estimator)
• Familiarity with data transformation tools and programming languages such as Power Query, SQL
• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
