This role supports the Director of Nursing in leading and managing the clinical operations of a senior living community, ensuring residents receive high-quality care while promoting safety and dignity. The Assistant Director of Nursing oversees nursing and caregiving staff, fosters interdisciplinary collaboration, and drives compliance, training, and continuous quality improvement.
Responsibilities
- Assist Director of Nursing with defining and maintaining standards of nursing practice and assume responsibilities in their absence
- Oversee the provision of appropriate medications, treatments, and general nursing services according to care plans and physician orders
- Assist in the development and maintenance of in-service education programs for nursing staff
- Conduct and participate in daily rounds to monitor the delivery of nursing care
- Participate in management team planning, policy formation, and administrative decision-making, focusing on care giver and nursing services
- Assess residents and potential residents for appropriate levels of care
- Manage and coordinate the work of all nursing and care staff, communicating pertinent resident health and safety information
- Supervise and monitor medications for residents who self-administer, if applicable
- Complete overall nursing day-to-day duties on scheduled floor nurse shifts
- Assist with the oversight of pharmacy and community relationships, ensuring timely medication delivery, eMAR accuracy, and addressing concerns
- Assist the Director of Nursing with oversight of the entire clinical department including resident assistants, certified nursing assistants, and medication technicians
- Provide interim documentation as required to resident files, attending all scheduled interdisciplinary resident care meetings
- Interview, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and retain a high-performing resident care team
- Engage in efforts to increase occupancy rates while prioritizing resident wellbeing
Requirements
- Current state license for LPN or RN
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school
- 3+ years of nursing experience preferred
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of best person-directed care practices for seniors, including those with dementia
- Knowledgeable of and experienced in conducting preadmission assessments, training, and education to staff, residents, and family members
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
