Assistant Controller

About This Role

This role supports all aspects of accounting management for North America, assisting in internal control formulation, managing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with regulations and accounting guidelines. The position involves financial reporting, accounting operations, cost accounting, budgeting, and process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses
• Maintain compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements
• Oversee general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable with the Financial Controller
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
• Monitor and reconcile inventory accounts and standard costing
• Lead, train, and mentor employees assigned to accounts payable and receivable groups
• Analyze production costs, variances, and margins to support operational decision-making
• Assist in preparing annual budgets and monthly forecasts
• Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• 5+ years of experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment
• 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role
• Experience with ERP systems
• Experience in SOX 404 Compliance
• Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills
• Thorough understanding of all accounting functional areas
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting and finance in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role

Nice to Have

• Thorough knowledge of GAAP
• Working knowledge of US Federal income tax regulations, state taxation, and SEC reporting requirement
• Continuous improvement experience (Lean Enterprise)
• CPA or CMA with 2-3 years of experience in public accounting and/or publicly held companies
