About This Role

Serve as an As-needed Biological Compliance Monitor overseeing construction activities within covered species habitats in the Central Valley, California. This role involves conducting pre-activity surveys, inspecting exclusion fencing, and coordinating with construction staff to ensure environmental compliance and protect sensitive species.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-activity surveys for covered species, including San Joaquin Kit Fox (SJKF), California tiger salamander (CTS), and California red-legged frog (CRLF)
  • Perform wildlife exclusion fencing inspections for covered species
  • Excavate potential covered species burrows
  • Coordinate with construction staff to understand upcoming construction activities
  • Monitor construction activities within covered species habitat

Requirements

  • 3-4 years' experience construction monitoring
  • Previously surveyed and monitored for SJKF, CTS, and/or CRLF on at least one project
  • Recorded observations of specified covered species
  • Active personal automobile liability insurance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, or other related field
  • 3-4 years' experience construction monitoring

Nice to Have

  • Previously approved by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) Region 4 as a SJKF and/or CTS Designated Biologist (DB)
  • Handling and relocation experience of CTS and CRLF
