APRN/PA - Instructor I - Endocrinology

About This Role

This position manages the healthcare of select patient populations within an outpatient setting, collaborating with a physician to diagnose, intervene, and evaluate patient health, specifically focusing on diabetes management and education.

Responsibilities

• Perform physical examinations and treat common episodic and chronic health care problems
• Counsel patients and families on health management
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans
• Assist with medical research projects, including data collection and patient follow-up
• Manage health care for select patient populations through advanced health assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation in a collaborative practice agreement with a physician
• Coordinate care to promote health and wellness, including patient education, service coordination, and referrals
• Develop and execute treatment plans for acute problems, such as illnesses and minor injuries, following predetermined protocols
• Instruct and counsel patients, involving them in informed decision-making regarding their health
• Refer patients needing diabetes education, including pump and sensor training, to the USF Diabetes Center
• Participate in professional development and lifelong learning activities to maintain compliance with policies and accreditation requirements

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant academic degree program
• Certification as outlined in Florida Statutes 464 and Florida Administrative Code, Chapter 64
