This role is for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Manager within the Palliative Care and Geriatrics Division at Brigham and Women's Hospital. It combines direct patient care with management and operational oversight of a growing team of nurses and APPs.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an active clinical practice providing palliative care to hospitalized patients and their families
- Deliver comprehensive symptom management, advance care planning, and goals of care discussions
- Serve as a clinical expert and resource for the nursing and APP team
- Participate in clinical quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice implementation
- Directly oversee and manage the performance of a small team of nurses and APPs
- Conduct hiring, onboarding, orientation, training, and scheduling for APP team members
- Provide regular performance coaching, mentoring, and professional development support
- Partner with MGB and MGH leadership to develop and implement strategic plans
- Contribute to the creation of operational structures, clinical workflows, and care delivery models
- Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and clinical operations for the APP and nursing team
Requirements
- Master's in Nursing (MSN) (or) DNP (or) PhD Degree in Nursing
- Completion of a Master’s or post Masters’ degree in Adult program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)
- Satisfactory completion of an approved formal education program for nurse practitioner
- Current Adult/Gerontology (AGNP) Certification by an accredited APRN certifying body
- DEA registration
- Current APRN License to practice in Massachusetts
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider
- Demonstrated progressive leadership experience
- Experience in inpatient palliative care
Qualifications
- Master's in Nursing (MSN) (or) DNP (or) PhD Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider with demonstrated progressive leadership experience and experience in inpatient palliative care.
Nice to Have
- Hospice and Palliative Care Nursing Certification (CHPN, ACHPN)
- Palliative Care fellowship training
Certifications
Adult/Gerontology (AGNP) Certification by an accredited APRN certifying body
