Animal Services Senior Veterinary Technician

About This Role

Supervise and direct daily clinic operations, manage veterinary technician staff and volunteers, and oversee animal health care within an animal services environment. This role involves comprehensive animal health support, administrative duties, and direct staff supervision.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct daily clinic administration
• Supervise veterinary technician staff and volunteers
• Maintain and track inventory of medical supplies
• Participate in animal health care, including routine, surgical, and critical care
• Schedule, oversee, and perform physical examinations, anesthesiology, and radiology procedures
• Immobilize animals for treatments, surgery, ultrasounds, and endoscopy studies
• Oversee and care for animal hospital quarantine and necropsy areas
• Perform, conduct, and analyze basic laboratory tests and process samples for external labs
• Supervise, instruct, guide, and train assigned staff
• Enforce personnel and safety rules and recommend employment status changes

Requirements

• Graduation from a Veterinary Medical Technician program or an Associate's Degree or higher in Animal Health, Biology, Zoology or related field
• 5 years paraprofessional or technical animal healthcare experience
• 1 year of lead or supervisory experience
• Texas Class “C” Driver’s License or equivalent
• Euthanasia Technician Certification within 1 year of employment

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Veterinary Medical Technician program or an Associate's Degree or higher in Animal Health, Biology, Zoology or related field
• Five (5) years paraprofessional or technical animal healthcare experience assisting a veterinarian in a high capacity clinic or shelter, to include one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.
