About This Role

This Pharmacy Technician position focuses on direct patient care activities within adult acute care settings, preparing and distributing medications, and managing pharmacy inventory for various hospital locations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package non-sterile compounded pharmaceuticals
  • Prepare sterile products, injections and IV chemotherapy
  • Fill automated dispensing cabinets on nursing units
  • Correctly distribute and account for controlled substances usage
  • Deliver medications to nursing units including surgical rooms
  • Stock medications shelves, manage inventory dating, return excess stock to inventory, and properly dispose expired medications or return to manufacturer
  • Prepare and deliver investigational drugs per research protocols
  • Respond and triage telephone and electronic message inquiries
  • Assist the Pharmacist with auditing-controlled substance utilization
  • Complete restocking and dispensing activities using pharmacy automation

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Michigan Pharmacy Technician License on or before hire date
  • Proficient communication, computer and basic mathematical skills are necessary
  • Ability to prioritize with accuracy and dependability
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activity: lifting, pulling, bending, manual dexterity movements
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • At least one year of technician experience
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Technician training program
  • Basic algebra including performing pharmacy calculations
