Support manufacturing operations by performing technical assessments, implementing process and design refinements, and monitoring and improving the quality of welded and brazed products across multiple programs.
Responsibilities
- Design for manufacturability reviews
- Joining process selection and definition
- Welding and brazing supplier assessments
- Supplier welding and brazing process development
- Welding and brazing failure analysis
- Welding and brazing procedure development, review, approval, and implementation
- Welding and brazing inspection personnel training
- Training of welders and brazers
- Administration of welding and brazing certification program
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience
- Experience in using welding and/or brazing of aluminum or carbon steel or stainless steel or titanium or nickel alloys
- U.S. Citizenship (for security clearance)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Welding Engineering or an Advanced Degree in a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience in welding engineering
Nice to Have
- Ability to communicate highly technical and complex concepts
- AWS QC-1 CWI or equivalent
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, AWS and ISO symbols
- Ability and willingness to engage in international travel
- Self-motivated and good communication skills
- Experience as a technical liaison between engineering, manufacturing, and quality organizations
- Working knowledge of Military, Commercial and/or ISO Welding Codes and Specifications
- Basic understanding of welding and brazing metallurgy
- Adaptable and willing to work in all project phases
- Practical knowledge of metal processing operations
- Demonstrated problem solving skills
- Experience in training and qualifying welders/brazers and inspectors
- Understanding and experience in mechanical testing laboratory methods
- Non-destructive Testing certifications
- Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma and statistical techniques
