The Warehouse Technician assists with the operation of a warehouse, focusing on inventory management, vendor relations, and material distribution for Utility divisions. This role involves maintaining accurate records, processing invoices, and ensuring the timely supply of materials to field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Keep the mission, vision and values of the City of Port St. Lucie and Utility Systems Department at the forefront of decision making and action.
- Perform alias stock issue, returns, and transfers using warehouse and inventory software.
- Receive purchase orders, partial orders, and create receipts for items received using warehouse and inventory software.
- Create barcode labels for material, sort and place material on racks, shelves, or in bins.
- Create new part numbers and locations using warehouse and inventory software.
- Assist in maintaining inventory records and running various reports using warehouse and inventory software.
- Perform cycle counts both manually and using a handheld scanner.
- Operate forklift to load and unload material from trucks.
- Enter necessary documentation into computer database for New Sewer, Commercial Grinders, Sewer Conversions, and contractor’s grinder panel installs.
- Drive city vehicle to transport equipment to or from repair facility.
- Prepare parcels for shipping.
- Assemble contractors’ materials from stock and load or distribute materials to contractors’ vehicles by hand or forklift.
- Perform all associated duties pertaining to laundry; tracks uniforms to ensure accuracy; verified accuracy of invoicing on a weekly basis.
- Procure needed supplies from assigned vendors to maintain stock levels in accordance with City purchasing policy.
- Process invoices for Accounts payable.
- Conduct weekly inventory.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Be available 24/7 during City of Port St Lucie emergencies, as determined by City Administrators, Emergency Manager or City Officials.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
- One (1) year of inventory control experience in a warehouse environment
- Possession of valid driver’s license
- Ability to obtain Forklift certification within six (6) months from date of hire
- Knowledge of warehouse and inventory practices
- Ability to operate forklift and common warehouse equipment
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma
- One (1) year of inventory control experience in a warehouse environment required. One (1) year of experience with water distribution and wastewater collection system environment preferred.
Nice to Have
- One (1) year of experience with water distribution and wastewater collection system environment
- Knowledge of materials used in the construction and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities
- Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, brass, PVC and ductile iron pipe and related fittings and couplings
- Knowledge of job-related software
- Knowledge of common Procurement and Accounts Payable practices
