Serve as a Virtual Assistant Principal for an online K-12 public school in Washington, providing leadership in culture, behavior, and academics. This role involves partnering with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to foster academic excellence and accountability.
Responsibilities
- Cultivate a caring, supportive, and inclusive school community
- Provide coaching and professional development in effective classroom management strategies
- Collaborate with staff and families to improve student behavior, attendance, and engagement
- Engage families and the community to promote student academic success and well-being
- Implement behavior management practices that motivate students through positive reinforcements
- Act as a point person to the local community, communicating the school's mission and soliciting input
- Understand, accept, abide by, and implement the school's philosophy and mission statement
- Collaborate with leadership to develop, implement, and lead instructional programs, assessing curriculum and observing classes
- Share responsibility for student achievement as related to academics and social-emotional wellbeing
- Collaborate with Principal to plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for teachers
Requirements
- Current valid Principal and Teacher license in the state of Washington
- Bachelor's degree in education or related discipline
- Successful completion of federal and state criminal background checks
- Knowledge of state academic content standards
- Minimum seven years of experience in education or related field
- Two or more years of experience in successful school administration/instructional leadership
- Demonstrated skill in developing and maintaining a rigorous academic program
- Experience in public education accountability, compliance, and related legal requirements
- Demonstrated ability to create inclusive environments
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or related discipline
- Minimum seven years of experience in education or related field and two or more years in successful school administration/instructional leadership
Nice to Have
- Washington residency preferred
- Advanced degree in education/educational leadership strongly preferred
- Experience with innovative school designs and instructional models (blended, inquiry, project-based, personalized learning)
