Vice Chair of Education

About This Role

Lead and centralize the academic mission of the John W. Deming Department of Medicine at Tulane School of Medicine, focusing on developing clinician-educator faculty, curriculum, and faculty development programming.

Responsibilities

• Oversee faculty-development activities related to education, including training on teaching, evaluation, and feedback
• Promote faculty awareness of institutional and national opportunities for educational leadership
• Provide oversight, support, direction, coaching, development, and empowerment to education leaders
• Develop a Clinical Educators track to support the career trajectory of faculty focused on medical education
• Facilitate recruitment of clinician educators and orient new faculty to educational roles
• Serve as the chief department advocate for investment and improvement in educational programs
• Advise the Chair on educational priorities, funding, recruitment, and infrastructure support
• Convene regular meetings of the Department’s educational leadership group
• Develop and maintain annual operating budgets for educational programs with the Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs
• Lead and oversee Department of Medicine Grand Rounds and CME programming
• Provide oversight of residents’ research activities and engage faculty as research mentors
• Serve as liaison between the department and key stakeholders
• Maintain and enhance reporting processes and systems for trainee and faculty performance
• Develop educational program evaluation processes and metrics
• Ensure all educational programs meet compliance standards, policies, and accreditation requirements
