Supervise veterinary technicians and provide high-quality medical support and nursing care to companion animal patients. This role focuses on leadership, training, and ensuring efficient daily hospital workflow.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of training protocols and procedures for technical staff
- Interview potential new veterinary technicians and technician assistants
- Review leveling criteria and benchmarks for employee advancement
- Perform mid and annual formal performance reviews for technicians and technician assistants
- Act as a mentor for technical staff, particularly Technician Leads
- Ensure appropriate medical techniques are utilized and positive customer service is demonstrated
- Provide feedback and follow up on coaching for employees
- Document training and coaching sessions
- Schedule, plan, and conduct bi-weekly Technician Lead meetings
- Participate in regular team meetings with the Leadership Team to identify improvements and ensure consistent messaging
- Assist with monitoring hospital areas for policy compliance and proper functioning of equipment and supplies
- Contribute to improving staff retention and fostering a culture of growth and development
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and professional networks
- Assist with resolving client needs, concerns, and complaints
- Maintain and perform scheduling for the technical staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels
Requirements
- 3-4 Years Technical background
- 3-4 Years Veterinary Emergency background
- 2-3 Years Leadership background
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Strong computer skills
- Strong ability to multi-task
- Strong work ethic and professionalism
- Able to properly restrain dog and cat patients
- Able to stand, sit, bend, restrain, squat for extended periods of time
- Able to lift 60 lbs in a safe manner
Qualifications
- 3-4 years technical background, 3-4 years veterinary emergency background, 2-3 years leadership background
