Veterinary Technician - Cardiology

About This Role

Provide specialized nursing care to stable cardiology patients according to hospital standards, including diagnostic procedures and medication administration, while working with leading veterinary professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to stable patients according to hospital standards of care and core values
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds
• Calculate basic medical math
• Understand classification of commonly-used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration
• Perform phlebotomy
• Triage and obtain patient history
• Assist clinician with diagnostic procedures
• Provide patient care including treatments
• Prepare prescriptions and communicate discharge orders to clients

Requirements

• Passion for Cardiology
• Ability to provide nursing care to stable patients
• Skill in calculating basic medical math
• Knowledge of commonly-used medications and their side effects
• Capability to administer medications
• Ability to perform phlebotomy
• Skill in patient triage and history taking
• Ability to assist with diagnostic procedures
• Experience with patient treatments
• Competence in preparing prescriptions and communicating discharge orders
