About This Role

This role involves overseeing unexploded ordnance (UXO) and potential explosive hazard materials operations, ensuring site safety, and certifying range residue is free of hazardous materials. The specialist will prepare daily QC reports, manage disposed UXO/MPPEH items, and supervise low-level radioactive and hazardous waste collection and storage.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect expended ordnance, ordnance related materials and range residue for energetic materials
  • Supervise equipment operators and construction laborers during sorting, movement, and segregation of expended ordnance and bombing range target scrap
  • Ensure demilitarization of ordnance, military type vehicles, and assorted residue in accordance with applicable directives and DOD regulations
  • Operate hand held radiation detection instruments to screen range residue for low-level radioactive waste items
  • Operate handheld magnetometers and conduct range sweeps to locate subsurface anomalies
  • Identify unexploded ordnance, fuzes, and fuze conditions
  • Prepare and oversee intrusive operations to excavate and identify anomalies
  • Prepare and oversee on-site demolition of munitions and explosives of concern (MEC) and MEC related items
  • Prepare and oversee explosives siting plans, overseeing storage, transport, handling, and administrative accounting of demolition explosives
  • Communicate with project team, clients, and Project Managers continuously
  • Provide technical expertise and technical assistance to staff

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • 15+ years of military and/or commercial experience in UXO remediation and safety standards
  • 10+ years of supervisory EOD/UXO experience

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of military and/or commercial experience in all phases of UXO remediation and applicable safety standards, with a minimum of ten (10) years of supervisory EOD/UXO experience.
