Underwriter

About This Role

This Underwriter position at Republic Business Credit assesses new client applications to ensure compliance with Credit Policy, primarily supporting sales, client service, and underwriting teams for factoring and asset-based lending products. The role involves analyzing leads and reviewing client financials.

Responsibilities

• Perform credit analysis by reviewing credit reports, financial statements, tax returns, appraisals, and field examinations to complete loan presentations
• Prepare and analyze spreads of a company’s financial statements to determine overall strengths and weaknesses of potential and current clients
• Perform and complete collateral analysis of all collateral assets including accounts receivables, inventory, equipment, and real estate
• Contact customers to obtain additional information or explanation detail throughout the underwriting process
• Identify and assess various business, industry and market risks to determine and categorize business trends
• Write Client Credit Approvals, Letters of Intent, Client Reviews, Borrowing Bases, and other work products
• Aid the legal manager in the preparation and distribution of legal documents
• Assist Underwriters in underwriting requests for new and existing clients with a focus on complex and higher dollar exposure transactions
• Review the work of other underwriters and present deals for approval to the Credit Committee
• Lead or support collateral field examinations of prospective and current clients

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree
• Strong problem solving skills

• Ability to meet deadlines and manage expectations
• Competency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
• Competency in Google (Google Mail, Google Docs/Sheets and Google Drive)

Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree required
• 10 to 15 years of related experience preferred

Nice to Have

• Ability to travel, including overnight
