About This Role

The Trust Advisor manages an assigned portfolio of wealth management clients, providing comprehensive financial guidance and advice based on a deep understanding of fiduciary duties, trust and tax law, and investment principles. This role involves building client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and mentoring less experienced partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned account base of wealth management clients by understanding their needs and goals
  • Guide client conversations for goals-driven wealth management and holistic advice
  • Proactively advise clients on Northern Trust's products/services, emerging issues, and regulatory/tax changes
  • Maintain working knowledge of Northern Trust resources and identify opportunities for relationship enhancement
  • Provide focused client service through responsive and proactive communication
  • Build and maintain knowledge of Northern Trust's fiduciary standards, applying judgment to relationships
  • Cultivate relationships with referral sources and centers of influence to develop new business opportunities
  • Teach and mentor less experienced partners, serving as a fiduciary resource
  • Travel to meet with clients where appropriate for revenue, new business, or servicing requirements
  • Seek continued development of fiduciary and advisory skills through training and experience

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fiduciary and financial products and services
  • Technical knowledge of investments, tax, legal, and operations
  • Knowledge of fiduciary standards, principles, and applicable laws and regulations
  • Skills in negotiating, problem solving, delegating, leadership, and sales
  • Ability to explain difficult or sensitive information and build consensus
  • 7-10 years’ experience in fiduciary servicing, personal trust, estate administration or related fields

Qualifications

  • College or university degree
  • 7-10 years’ experience in fiduciary servicing, in personal trust, estate administration or related fields
