Effectively evaluate, deliver, and document patient respiratory care while maintaining equipment and supporting clinical teams. This role requires competency in clinical judgment and technical skills within respiratory care.
Responsibilities
- Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment
- Effectively evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans
- Function as a role model in Respiratory Care demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, select technical skills, and appropriate knowledge base
- Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation and check equipment in use and on units for proper operations and routine service
- Report malfunctioning equipment to manager
- Process and maintain respiratory equipment
- Accurately chart on the respiratory flow sheets in the EMR and on the care plans
- Charge accurately in the EMR
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients on respiratory care services
- Obtain and analyze blood gases: Arterial, Venous and Capillary
Requirements
- Solid understanding of all aspects of Respiratory care
- Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy
- BLS (American Heart Association) certification
- Illinois Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
