Provide specialized psychiatric nursing care for patients with mental health issues, assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals. Collaborate with a medical team to deliver comprehensive patient care and manage psychotropic medications.
Responsibilities
- Assess the mental health status of patients with behavioral challenges
- Collaborate with medical providers and mental health staff in the design and delivery of patient care
- Administer and monitor effectiveness and side-effects of psychotropic medications
- Assist patients, and families as appropriate, to interpret and manage maladaptive behaviors and to plan healthy lifestyle changes
- Exercise balanced judgment in evaluation situations and making decisions to handle difficult or confrontational situations in a professional manner
Requirements
- Active RN License
- Degree from accredited nursing program
- BLS Certifications
- Eighteen months of recent experience in an Acute Care Psychiatric setting
