Travel Nurse RN - Med Surg

About This Role

Provide direct and individualized nursing care to Med Surg patients, coordinating with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.

Responsibilities

• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications, reporting adverse reactions
• Educate patients on surgical procedures
• Record patients' medical information and vital signs
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpreting and recording electronic displays
• Initiate corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology
• Provide bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and post-surgery patients
• Initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician, teaching patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury
• Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs, prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient
• Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol
• Participate in discharge planning
• Record all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner

Requirements

• Must have ACLS & BLS certification (through American Heart Association)
• Must have 2 years recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting
• Must have Alabama RN or multi-state RN license

Qualifications

• 2 years recent Med/Surg experience in a hospital setting
