The Training Corporal is responsible for developing and delivering training programs and maintaining standards for patrol officers, security officers, and dispatchers within the UAMS Police Department. This role involves interviewing applicants, processing background applications, and assisting with the Field Training Officer Programs.
Responsibilities
- Conduct interviews with potential applicants and process background applications
- Provide training as needed for UAMS employees and staff
- Assist with maintaining the Field Training Officer Programs
- Assist with quartermaster duties
- Enforce traffic control, criminal laws, and parking regulations
- Unlock buildings, offices, and vehicles upon request
- Assist stranded motorists or individuals as requested
- Quell disturbances involving patients, visitors, students, or employees
- Respond to calls reporting criminal activity
- Prepare incident reports on pertinent situations
- Conduct foot and vehicle patrol on campus and at off-site clinics
- Monitor building security and maintain high visibility to deter violations
- Investigate accidents on UAMS property and process reports
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Two years of law enforcement experience
- Certified by the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy as a Police Officer
- At least 21 years of age
- Current and valid Arkansas driver’s license
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- 2+ years of law enforcement experience
Nice to Have
- Associate's degree or higher in a criminal justice-related field
- 3 or more years of law enforcement experience
- Instructor Certification
- Firearms Instructor Certification
- General Certificate
- Basic knowledge of computers
