The Trades Technician III plans, supervises, and coordinates a variety of maintenance, repairs, and special projects within the Charleston County Facilities Management department. This role involves maintaining HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems, and assisting with administrative duties and providing support to building occupants.
Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate maintenance, repairs, and special projects for Charleston County Facilities Management.
- Repair, install, and maintain HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
- Assist with administrative duties including computer-based work order management, project management, and procurement processes.
- Provide support to building occupants in the absence of the regular supervisor.
- Assure repairs, replacements, and preventive maintenance of all heating/air conditioning equipment and components.
- Perform repairs on electrical fixtures, devices, and ballast/bulb replacements.
- Ensure electrical, HVAC, mechanical, wastewater, potable water, plumbing, and life safety systems are operational and tested routinely.
- Assure carpentry work including locks, sheetrock repair, and painting are completed as needed within the Facility.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in the commercial building trade and a minimum of five years in a building maintenance environment
- Valid SC driver’s license
- Ability to pass a SLED criminal background check and meet medical and physical examination requirements
- Ability to be on call 24/7 and work various shifts
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively within varying levels of management
- Ability to provide feedback in both written and oral forms
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, technical school diploma or Associate’s Degree preferred.
- Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in the commercial building trade and a minimum of five years in a building maintenance environment.
