Peer Support Specialist - DAODAS

About This Role

This position provides vital peer support services to patients in a substance use disorder treatment facility, working across various treatment settings including admissions, outpatient, residential, and withdrawal management services.

Responsibilities

• Provide peer support services to patients in a substance use disorder treatment facility
• Assess strengths, challenges, resources, and goals (recovery capital) across multiple life domains
• Develop recovery plans to support clients transitioning to the community
• Utilize recovery oriented practices such as motivational interviewing
• Maintain a good working knowledge of medications for opioid use disorders and their benefits
• Ensure compliance with all Charleston Center / Charleston County Policies and Procedures
• Provide after-hours and emergency coverage as needed

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Two years or more in Recovery from Substance Use Disorders
• Willingness to self-identify as a person in recovery
• Certification as a Peer Support Specialist within two years of hire date (or become “in-process” within 30 days of hire)
• Valid SC driver’s license
• 10-year driving record
• Excellent interpersonal, written/verbal communication, and computer skills

Qualifications

• High School Diploma with two years or more in Recovery from Substance Use Disorders
• Two years or more in Recovery from Substance Use Disorders and a willingness to self-identify as a person in recovery.
